ZINC Research to present social media demographics, user stats for Canadian marketers
In-depth presentation for marketers will describe social media user segment demographics and user characteristics
April 22, 2010, Calgary AB – In a presentation that will help marketers and executives evolve their Web 2.0 platform strategies more effectively, ZINC Research president Brian F. Singh will present an in-depth demographic profile of social media users on Monday, April 26th in Calgary. The presentation, “Social Media by the Numbers,” is aimed at Canadian marketers looking for insights on who’s using social media and how best to connect and engage with them. It will offer a review of the latest user stats and demographics for each of the major social media platforms, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, and others.

“We’ve all heard the anecdotal evidence,” says Brian Singh, “but what are the facts? Marketers want to know who’s really out there on these platforms and which ones would be best for their particular products and services. That’s the perspective we’re taking in this presentation.”
Key points covered will include:
  • Who’s using what?
  • How often?
  • How long do they stay?
  • What are the e-commerce opportunities?
  • How else can marketers engage and interact with people?
  • Are US-defined social media user segments appropriate in Canada?
A “made in Canada” user segmentation solution
A major bonus of the presentation is that it draws its data from ZINC Research’s own Canadian surveys. “Most marketers in Canada have to rely on user segments defined south of the border,” Singh explains, “but Canadians using these platforms are different in some important and surprising ways. For marketers, this aspect of the presentation in and of itself should provide practical and actionable insights.”
Organized in conjunction with Third Tuesday Calgary, the presentation will start at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 26th at the Energy Plaza + 15 board room.
